About
This activity will help you apply the fundamentals of pain management – assessment, treatment, and management of patient with pain – both acute and chronic. This video-based activity will provide strategies to treat patients with pain while reducing serious adverse outcomes resulting from inappropriate prescribing, misuse, and abuse of opioid analgesics.

Dr. Dively did her undergraduate work at the West Chester University of Pennsylvania and attended medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Memorial Hospital in York, PA, and worked in private practice in Phoenix, Arizona, and Lancaster, PA, for five years. Dr. Dively then worked in a non-clinical position for four years doing Medicare compliance reviews before getting back into patient care and working in Addiction Medicine. She is board-certified in OB/GYN and a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists. |

- Characterize the ongoing public health challenges due to the opioid epidemic and its effect on patient care
- Evaluate the fundamental concepts of pain management including definitions and sources of pain
- Perform an effective assessment of patients with pain to determine the most appropriate treatment options
- Create an effective pain treatment plan customized to the needs of the individual patient
